The Karen Neilsen Collection was developed in 2007 by Karen Neilsen. The KNCollection is for the smart, sartorially savvy women with an eye for quality fabrics, clever cutting and the latest fashion. Karen is passionate about keeping her swimwear Australian made.
Renowned for her award-winning designs and couture collections designer Karen Neilsen has a long history of designing and retailing bikinis since hand sewing knitted bikinis after school for Anmas Bikinis, Gold Coast 1973.
The Karen Neilsen Collection was originally inspired by the fabulous 50’s and childhood memories of resort hot spot, The Entrance. Marie Claire magazine labelled the designs as a “Show Stopper” and it’s no wonder considering the refreshing colour palettes and fantastically different shapes and detailing Karen is renowned for.
Following on from the success of the signature Cotton Collection Karen has returned to her swimwear roots taking to working with Lycra once more. Still inspired by days gone by the Lycra Collection offers a directional ascetic drawn from the late 70’s, early 80’s.
Winner of an NRA Award and six RAQ Awards for fashion design this former ‘Miss Young International’ and swimwear model is set to captivate a whole new generation of bikini girls with her unique twist on the pin up girls of the 50’s and free lovin’, free huggin’ girls of the late 70’s early 80’s.
The designs concepts come from Karen’s rich association with modelling and bikinis over the years. Making her a chameleon of the fashion industry and an unstoppable force in her quest for national and international success.
